Southern Cross University’s 10-storey Building B has become a Southern Gold Coast icon, with its exterior walls transformed into a mural masterpiece by artist and University alumnus Guido van Helten in 2018. The University’s north gate access allows walkers and cyclists easy access to campus from the Gold Coast Highway at North Kirra, with plenty of space for securing bicycles, skateboards and surfboards within the University gates.

Library
The library is in Building C, the third building constructed at the Gold Coast campus in 2018. It has a variety of individual and sound-proof group study spaces to cater for all kinds of study situations.

Outside Building C
Southern Cross University’s $43m Building C was opened in 2018, the third building constructed at the Gold Coast campus.
The six-level building has magnificent views of the ocean and hinterland and houses the Library, SCU College, School of Law and Justice, technology-rich teaching and learning spaces and an impressive 560-seat lecture theatre.
Health Clinic
Southern Cross University Health clinic at the Gold Coast campus is open to the public and located on the ground floor of Building B. The clinic offers health services including Osteopathy, Podiatry, Speech Pathology, Exercise Physiology, Diabetes Education, remedial and sports massage with either an accredited health professional or a supervised senior health student. The clinic enables real-world learning for Allied Health students and offers competitively priced services with appropriate referrals and health care recommendations for the general public
Library
The Library is inspired by the natural beauty of the Gold Coast, with ‘beach shack’ colours and materials and uses sustainable features such as carpet made from recycled fishing nets.
The two-level Library provides students with spaces for both group work and individual study, print and online resources, computers, printing and photocopying facilities. Librarians are available in person, over the phone, via chat, or via email to help you.
Chemistry Lab
The Chemistry Lab is equipped with preparation equipment and analytical instruments for chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition and food science studies. Osteopathy, sport and exercise and biomedical science students are taught in this facility.
Bachelor of Clinical Sciences (Osteopathic Studies) and Master of Osteopathic Medicine students practise techniques to treat musculoskeletal and other functional disorders of the body with guidance from tutors. With growing demand for osteopaths, Southern Cross tests our students’ capabilities with problem-based related studies and activities, alongside real and simulated patient experiences.
Sim Lab
Students in the Bachelor of Nursing study some of their practical components in on-campus hospital simulation laboratories, to develop skills in diagnosis and response to medical emergencies.
Their work is monitored and guided by supervisors via a control room. With this preparation, nursing students gain valuable experience in how to apply their knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to nursing practice ahead of their study placements and future work in many different healthcare settings.
The Anatomy and Physiology Lab
The Anatomy and Physiology Lab is used across many health disciplines offered at Southern Cross. The lab offers a range of scientific and diagnostic equipment and interactive software is available to provide students with hands-on learning experience in preparation for entry into nursing, allied health and science professions.
Equipment includes life-sized anatomical models, microscopes, histological slides, dissection and physiological testing equipment.
Virtual Fitness Room
Keeping fit is easy at Southern Cross University Gold Coast campus. The Virtual Fitness Centre has weight and cardio training equipment as well as a Les Mills virtual fitness studio for group exercise played on screen.
The Virtual Fitness Centre at the Gold Coast campus is on the ground floor of Building A and is open:
7 days from 6am – 10pm

Manual Therapies Room
The Manual Therapies Room enables students studying occupational therapy, podiatry, pedorthics and sport & exercise science to analyse, assess and develop functional goals and a range of intervention approaches to address sensory motor, biomechanical and physiological challenges to human function.
Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science
The Bachelor of Sports and Exercise Science has three major areas to focus on: Education, Exercise Science or Nutrition Studies. This degree is accredited by Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) and gives graduates career opportunities in sports coaching, training development, health promotion, occupation rehabilitation and more.
Activities of Daily Living Lab
The Activities of Daily Living (ADL) Lab provides the practical facilities occupational therapy students use to develop their clinical skills.
The lab is fitted with a range of adaptive equipment including wheelchairs, electrical beds and hoist systems, an accessible shower, bath and kitchen facilities that include an adjustable bench and wash basin.
Students can apply therapeutic techniques for simulating home, community, and hospital-based rehabilitation for clients of all ages and abilities.
Digital Enterprise Lab
Southern Cross University’s Digital Enterprise Lab is a hub for Virtual Reality research and innovation, as well as industry Hackathon events and challenges in partnership with leading companies such as Salesforce and Gold Coast Airport.
Students are given access to networking events, business masterclass opportunities, mentoring and a space to develop their innovations.
Podiatry & Pedorthics
The Pedorthics and Podiatry Manufacturing Lab is a modern, state-of-the-art, purpose-built 240m2 facility where students use machinery for grinding and polishing, ovens and vacuum presses for moulding orthotics, and sewing machines.
There is a separate plaster room and gluing area, and the extensive dust extraction system ensures clean air is continually available to the laboratory working environment.
Students work with materials to design and manufacture orthotics and customised corrective footwear.
Midwifery Birth Suite
The Midwifery Birth Suite is designed to simulate childbirth environments from natural childbirth to high dependency births, using the latest technology.
The birth suite enables midwifery students to use highly specialised equipment and practise on simulation models, including the hi-fidelity SimMum and SimBaby interactive mannequins. Students also have access to a purpose-built neonatal care environment.
Lecture Theatre
The impressive 560-seat lecture theatre at Southern Cross University Gold Coast campus not only benefits students, with classes, events and graduation ceremonies, but is a valuable community asset for the southern Gold Coast, hosting conferences, seminars and other productions.
The Movement Lab
The Movement Lab includes a range of sport and exercise science, podiatry, pedorthics, biomechanics and gait analysis equipment for students to gain hands-on practical experience analysing human movement and physiology. Equipment includes an in-floor force plate, medical-grade treadmill, cycle ergometers, portable pressure mapping systems, a motion capture and analysis system, expired gas analysis system, and EMG, ECG spirometry and other human measurement equipment.
Shared Services Hub
The Shared Services Hub is a one-stop shop for student enquiries and support, including application and enrolment enquiries and student ID card assistance. The Hub also offers Virtual Client Support where you have the option to call, email or live chat to one of our friendly staff.
Stairwell
There’s nothing quite like studying while overlooking the beach. Southern Cross University Gold Coast campus is a short walk from the beautiful sands of North Kirra and has a view of the city’s coastline spanning from Coolangatta up to South Stradbroke, and across the Gold Coast Airport to the beautiful Hinterland.
Our students can often spot whales out the windows that are travelling past on their Pacific migration.
Entrance
Our Gold Coast campus is located at Coolangatta, just 400 metres from North Kirra Beach, and adjacent to the Gold Coast Airport.
When you’re studying in a city that enjoys 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s no wonder our Gold Coast students enjoy meeting up outdoors to study, play volleyball and catch up for lunch.
‘The Green’ is one of the most popular spots on campus with popular food outlets The Greenroom and the Little Greenie close by, and regular alternating food truck options.
Podiatry & Pedorthics
Podiatry is a health care practice devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower leg. These range from issues around sporting injuries, gait function, biomechanics and acute conditions like diabetes.
A podiatry degree from Southern Cross will develop your capacity to become an ethical and innovative practitioner with professional skills in sound diagnosis and the treatment of patients.
Bachelor of Midwifery
The Bachelor of Midwifery is a full-time three-year degree with five main areas of study that double as an approved pathway for Registered Nursing.
This degree provides a learning environment that involves problem solving, creativity, ethical practice and communication skills and more, to help prepare students for their future career as a midwife.
Building C Foyer
Southern Cross is on the cutting edge of research and innovation, with the Gold Coast campus digital display screen outside the library often showcasing snippets of the University’s whale research, coral spawning, regenerative agriculture, detailed art projects, student sporting success and other achievements.
Health Clinic
Senior allied health students have access to essential real-world clinical experience in a safe and supervised environment within the university grounds. It’s invaluable professional training.
Activities of Daily Living Lab 2
Occupational therapists deliver life-changing outcomes by assisting people to do the things they want and need to do. Helping people to develop, recover, improve and maintain the skills and functions needed for daily life is at the heart of this rewarding career.
As an occupational therapist you could for example develop inclusive playground experiences and environments for children of all abilities; you could recommend workplace changes that would assist an injured worker to return to work; or you could design home modifications or public transport changes that would ensure access for a person using a power wheelchair.
Occupational therapy has been identified as a high job growth area by the Australian Government’s Job Outlook.
Nursing Lab
Students studying nursing at Southern Cross University Gold Coast learn practical skills in state-of-the-art simulated clinical ward environments.
Part-task trainers and mannequins allow students to practice skills as well as involve themselves in scenario-based learning and patient care. The hi-fidelity sim lab is equipped with SimMan, a programmable interactive model which simulates real life conditions and reactions of patients.
The Student Lounge is an open plan area with lockers, a kitchenette, snack machines, study nooks and a range of other seating for students to study or relax between classes
The Learning Experience Team is available to assist students with academic skills, literacy and numeracy, self-management, critical thinking skills and integrity, both on-campus through the Student Learning Zone and online.
