Moot Court
In addition to the Bachelor of Laws (LLB), the School of Law and Justice at Southern Cross offers a suite of double degrees that allow you to combine a law degree with another discipline such as arts, business or even psychology.
Swimming Pool
Located next to the fitness centre, the indoor heated pool is 33 metres long by 1.8 metres deep with eight lanes for lap swimming. It is also suitable for water polo. The pool design incorporates the best environmental sustainability practice. Water for filter backwash and pool top-up is collected from filtered rainwater and ultraviolet disinfection is used to purify the water, significantly lowering the amount of chlorine needed.
Learning Centre
The Learning Centre reflects the most contemporary concept of a library, providing a choice of spaces for contemplation, collaboration and connection for different styles of learning, as well as a more traditional area for book collection. The Learning Centre includes several meeting and collaboration rooms, plus spaces to relax, drop in, plug in, login, meet up, read, listen, work, browse, research, explore, study, learn and teach.
Whitebrook Theatre
The University’s first Vice Chancellor Professor Barry Conyngham AM gives the occasional address at a graduation ceremony in the Whitebrook Theatre.

Art Studio
In November each year, final year art and design students host the Graduate Exhibition in the studio spaces to showcase their works.
Recording Studio
This is where the magic happens. The main recording studio is used for the teaching and practice of music production, audio engineering and composition. It includes industry-standard audio technology and software, a control room with a shared recording area and two shared isolation booths.
Art Studio
A series of studio spaces with kilns, computer labs, life drawing and painting studios to explore every aspect of art and design. Explore ceramics, drawing, printmaking, papermaking, digital design, photography, sculpture and more.
Engineering at Lismore
There are four laboratories that are used for research and teaching activities. They cover a range of sub-disciplines including: materials conditioning and testing, concrete and structures testing, fluids/hydraulics testing, and mechanics and physics.
Water Dynamics Laboratory houses the Advanced Particle Analysis Facility - this suite of instruments is used to characterise environmental particles in terms of their size and surface area. There is also a 10-metre tilting open channel water flume, which is used to demonstrate principles of fluid dynamics to students and for research projects. Additionally, there is a suite of equipment for testing the mechanical properties of soil.
Learning Centre
The ground floor is about students and staff connecting in an informal space. It includes an exhibition space with a program of diverse and thought-provoking shows throughout the year, borrowing facilities, reception for enquiries and assistance, computer workstations, and private and open plan study areas.

Level 2 is about collaboration – areas to work and learn as part of a team. There is also the read, listen and relax area where students can find a quiet place to recharge. Level 3 is about individual study, research and contemplation.

Open Mic Night at the Deck&Lounge
Open Mic night is a tradition at Lismore! Every first and third Wednesday of the month from 6pm, the stage is open to anyone who wants to perform. Whether you sing, play, read, dance – whatever, we want you at Open Mic. All performers receive a meal voucher on the night they perform.
Health & Human Sciences
Nursing students access state-of-the-art hospital and electronic teaching equipment in simulated clinical ward environments including the hi-fidelity sim lab equipped with SIM-man, a programmable interactive model which simulates real life conditions and patients.

The Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory is where nursing, sport & exercise science and osteopathy students gain hands-on experience using a range of scientific and diagnostic equipment and interactive software. Equipment includes life-sized anatomical models, microscopes, histological slides, dissection and psychological testing equipment.
Other specialist facilities include the anatomy cadaver lab, a chemistry lab, sport & exercise science facilities, nursing labs, and a space for manual therapies.
Health Clinic
The Southern Cross University Health Clinic is a bulk-billing general practice open to staff, students and the public. Allied health students undertake supervised clinical placements in the Health Clinic to meet their degree requirements, including for osteopathic medicine and clinical exercise physiology.
Fitness Centre
Staying fit on campus is easy! The Fitness Centre is open 24/7. Free weights and lifting platforms, an extensive circuit area, cardio room and spin room provide facilities for people of all fitness levels. Or if group exercise is more your thing, there are classes in yoga, pilates, sh’bam, total body workouts and more.
Friends of the Koala
Friends of the Koala was first established in 1986 and has been working to enhance and protect koala habitat ever since, taking care of more than 5,000 koalas along the way.
With a volunteer base of about 100 people, including Southern Cross students, the service rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured koalas, releasing them back into the wild when and if they are well enough. This fantastic service maintains a 24-hour rescue hotline, also creating and promoting education around koalas and preserving koala habitat.

The Plaza often comes to life during lunch hours with live entertainment from our music students.

At the centre of the Lismore campus is the Goodman Plaza where you can find food and drink outlets, an ATM, the Co-op bookshop, accommodation and advocacy services, counselling and a multifaith chaplaincy. With the Learning Centre (Library) adjacent and the Deck & Lounge, Gym and Pool just a stone’s throw away, Goodman Plaza is the happening hub of the campus.
Whitebrook Theatre
The magnificent amphitheatre of the Whitebrook Theatre is not only the site of large lecture groups, musical performances or events, it’s also where all graduation ceremonies take place on Lismore campus. Graduation is the culmination of the university experience for many students when their years of hard work are recognised by family, friends and the academic community.

Bundjalung Square
Indigenous Australian Student Services (IASS) is also located in Bundjalung Square. IASS provides information, advice and support to Indigenous Australian students in a culturally safe and friendly environment. It includes dedicated study space for Indigenous students and a common room. Bundjalung Square
Southern Cross University has a long and productive relationship with the Bundjalung Community and other Northern Rivers Indigenous communities. Bundjalung Square is home to Gnibi College of Indigenous Australian Peoples, which is committed to delivering courses in a culturally safe, dynamic and innovative way for all people.
Biology Lab
The Biology Lab is used to examine both land and marine specimens using specialised microscopes. This is the main practical teaching facility for studies in biology, ecology, plant identification, wetland and coastal marine ecosystems, wildlife conservation and fisheries biology. The microscope used by teaching staff in this lab includes a camera to project specimens onto big screens throughout the lab for class discussion.

Moot Court
The Moot Court in our School of Law and Justice puts students through their legal paces. Mooting is a crucial part of legal training that simulates the courtroom experience and proceedings. Students get to practise being the judge, the lawyer and the jury as they investigate legal issues and arguments in a simulated courtroom.
Recording Studio
Our on-campus creative hub also includes the production house Studio One29. This concert and performance space has a sound stage and seminar room for live and recorded audio and video production.
Environmental Science
Marine, forest and environmental sciences students access equipment and facilities including laboratories for chemistry, geology and biology.
Field equipment includes boats and 4WD vehicles, fish and animal sampling equipment, sediment samplers, diving equipment, underwater video recorder, geotechnical and geochemical data collection equipment, and a portable weather station and data loggers. Students undertake field trips and collect samples to bring back to the labs for testing.
